Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis has been implicated in its pro-carcinogenetic role in colorectal cancer but the carcinogenetic role of nontoxigenic B.fragilis in colon cancer has not yet been studied even though they are found to be enriched in patients with precancerous colon polyps. As part of elucidating the aforementioned understudied role, changes in the microbiome composition was studied by metagenomics and 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. The samples were feces of 12 weeks old CRC model mice: HFD-fed WT, Apc min/+ , Apc f/w and Cdx2Apc f/w.
