The Vaginal Microbiota, High-risk Human Papillomavirus Infection, and Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia: Results from a Population-Based Study

We analyzed samples from women in the Community Access, Resources and Education (CARE): Project 3 study across 16 clinics in Ohio and characterized the vaginal microbiota among women with a) CIN regardless of HPV type (CIN), b) high-risk HPV infection only without cytologic abnormality (HPV+), and c) a random sample of women without cytologic abnormalities (negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy or HPV infection (NILM HPV-)).
