Musa Germplasm Information System

The Musa Germplasm Information System (MGIS) is a database of detailed and standardized information on Musa varieties maintained in the different collections throughout the world. MGIS facilitates access to passport, characterization and evaluation data on Musa varieties for the whole scientific community.

The MGIS relies on an international network of partners wishing to exchange their knowledge on genetic resources of the genus Musa and to help the international community benefit from this knowledge. MGIS has been developed in collaboration with CIRAD.

MGIS is distributed on a CD-ROM containing the software and the database. MUSAID.win, the assistance software for the identification of unknown accessions developed by CIRAD is also included. Using the MGIS database, germplasm curators manage their own local database and have a ready access to information recorded by other collections.

The Descriptors for Banana published by INIBAP, IPGRI and CIRAD is the standard reference for the collection of the various types of data.

芭蕉属种质资源信息系统（Musa Germplasm Information System，MGIS）是收录全球各地保种机构所保存的芭蕉属品种标准化详细信息的专业数据库。本系统可为全球科研群体提供芭蕉属品种的护照信息、性状鉴定与评价数据的获取途径。

MGIS依托由愿共享芭蕉属遗传资源相关知识、助力国际社会共享该类研究成果的合作伙伴组成的国际网络运行，本系统由CIRAD合作开发。

MGIS以光盘载体进行分发，内含系统软件与数据库文件，同时附带由CIRAD开发的未知种质鉴定辅助软件MUSAID.win。通过MGIS数据库，种质资源保管员可管理本地专属数据库，并便捷获取其他保藏机构所记录的相关信息。

由INIBAP、IPGRI与CIRAD联合发布的《香蕉描述规范》是各类相关数据采集工作的标准参考依据。
