This series contains Cabinet Minutes and Discussion Papers which were withdrawn before they were considered by the Cabinet of the Government of New South Wales.A Cabinet Minute is a document which is submitted by a Minister for consideration by Cabinet. It outlines the decision that Cabinet is being asked to make and the matters that are relevant to that decision. (1) A Cabinet Minute may be withdrawn for various reasons, for example by request of the Minister who submitted it, or because it has lapsed due to a change of government. Each file in the series contains the Minute itself and, in many cases, correspondence from various Ministers responding to the Minute, and any supporting documentation.The Minutes are arranged in chronological order. Until April 2011, they were assigned a running number followed by a two-digit number that indicated the year the Minute was submitted. From April 2011 this format was reversed, starting with a two-digit number to indicate the year, followed by a running number.Discussion Papers are prepared by members of the Cabinet and distributed by the Cabinet Office. They often include detailed summaries and recommended courses of action from the Cabinet Office.The Discussion Papers are arranged by chronological order of the date it was submitted to the Cabinet.Endnote1.
