To support refined business operations, there is a need to accurately classify users who have purchased value-added services, distinguish high-value and low-value user groups, and deliver differentiated services and marketing strategies tailored to users of different value tiers.
1. Data Collection: The dataset is sourced from telephone value-added service sales records of the enterprise's e-commerce platform mall&expo.
2. Feature Selection: The number of placed orders, adjusted order amount, and browsing frequency are selected as feature variables. In line with actual business scenarios, the weight of the amount feature is adjusted to ensure that order amount plays a dominant role in clustering decision-making. For this model, the adjusted order amount is calculated as order amount * 2.
3. Optimal Cluster Number Determination: The silhouette coefficient method is employed to determine the optimal number of clusters k=4.
4. Clustering Execution: The k-means algorithm is run to cluster users using the selected feature variables and the determined k value. The algorithm randomly initializes k centroids, then iteratively assigns each sample to the nearest centroid and updates the centroid positions until the convergence criterion is satisfied.
5. Cluster Analysis and User Classification: Analyze the characteristics of each cluster, including the average number of placed orders, order amount, and product browsing frequency of users within the cluster. Achieve customer classification based on business objectives and cluster features. Optimize the user classification results by combining the number of clustering groups, grouping thresholds and actual enterprise conditions, and finally classify users into 4 operational target groups: "A.
