Exogenous miRNAs from Moringa oleifera Lam. recover a dysregulated lipid metabolism (mouse)

The efficacy of a traditional remedy was tested, based on an aqueous extract of Moringa oleifera Lam. seeds (MOES). Then, the small RNAs have been extracted from the MOES (mol-miR pool) and used for the treatments. Two tissues, in particular, were analyzed: the liver and the adipose tissue, both in vitro (HepG2 and 3T3-L1) and in vivo (C57BL/6J mice) models. It has been recently demonstrated that miRNAs contained in plants can regulate human mRNA translation, similarly to mammalian ones, in a cross-kingdom manner. Starting from this knowledge, this work focuses on the effects of Moringa oleifera Lam. miR pool on disrupted lipid metabolism.
