Putative pathogenic genes of Leptospira interrogans and Leptospira weilii isolated from patients with acute febrile illness: Two case reports

Leptospirosis is an important tropical disease caused by pathogenic Leptospira spp. Determination of virulence genes is important as it influences the clinical manifestation and clinical outcomes of the patients. This case report was focusing on the detection of pathogenic genes of leptospirosis in association with clinical manifestation in patients with acute febrile illness from Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia. There were two cases found and to the best of our knowledge, these are the first cases on febrile illness with successful Leptospira isolation from clinical samples in Malaysia.
