Metagenomic data of deep-sea sediments in Clarion Clipperton Fracture Zone

Deep-sea ferromanganese nodules are found over vast areas of the ocean floor and are one of the best known unique habitats in the abyss. The metal-rich deep-sea sediments of ferromanganese nodules regions provide special conditions conducive for the growth of microorganisms with metabolic capacities. The use of next-generation sequencing methods has tremendously improved the insights into seep microbiomes and will advance microbial ecology from the diversity microbial distribution pattern to the adaptive survival strategy in deep-sea environments. We collected a set of sediment samples from Clarion Clipperton Fracture Zone and performed metagenomic analysis.
