资源简介:
The dataset consists of an excel file with the following sheets:
Individuals: Summary records for 102 minke whales and five fin whales sampled in the Nordic and Barents Seas in 2019-2022.
Faeces: Dry matter content (%) and concentration of carbon and nutrients (mg/kg dry weight) in faeces of minke whales (N=102) and fin whales (n= 5) collected in Norway and Iceland in 2019-2022. Abbreviations: C = carbon, N = nitrogen, P = phosphorus, Ag = silver, As = arsenic, Cd = cadmium, Co = cobalt, Cr = chromium, Cu = copper, Fe = iron, Hg = mercury, Mn = manganese, Mo = molybdenum, Ni = nickel, Pb = lead, Se = selenium, V = vanadium, Zn = zinc. The full range of elements was measured in a subset of minke whale samples (n=31) and all fin whale samples - results shown in Fig. 1. The most abundant elements (C, N, P, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) were later analysed in all 102 minke whale samples - these data were used as input in all further analyses.
Urine: Nutrient concentration in minke whale urine (n=12), collected in Norway in 2021.
Abundance: Abundance estimates for six baleen whale species in the study area, per area (ICE=Iceland, GN=Greenland and Norwegian Sea, BS=Barents Sea) and survey block.
Daily nutrient release: Daily nutrient release rates by baleen whales via faeces and urine, by area (ICE=Iceland, GN=Greenland and Norwegian Sea, BS=Barents Sea) and survey block. Estimates are given per individual (g d-1) and for the entire population (g d-1).
