Archive of Digital Chirp Subbottom Profile Data Collected During USGS Cruise 13CCT04 Offshore of Petit Bois Island, Mississippi, August 2013

In August of 2013, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted a geophysical survey offshore of Petit Bois Island, Mississippi to investigate the geologic controls on barrier island framework and long-term sediment transport. This report serves as an archive of unprocessed digital chirp subbottom data, trackline maps, navigation files, GIS information, and formal FGDC metadata. Gained digital images of the seismic profiles are provided. The archived trace data are in standard Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) SEG Y revision 0 format (Barry and others, 1975) and may be downloaded and processed with commercial or public domain software such as Seismic Unix (SU). Example SU processing scripts and USGS software for viewing the SEG Y files (Zihlman, 1992) are also provided.
These data are available for viewing using GeoMapApp (<http://www.geomapapp.org/>) and Virtual Ocean (<http://www.virtualocean.org/>) multi-platform open source software. In addition, the SEG Y files can also be downloaded from the USGS Coastal and Marine Geoscience Data System (<http://cmgds.marine.usgs.gov>).

2013年8月，美国地质调查局（U.S. Geological Survey）于密西西比州珀蒂博伊斯岛近海开展地球物理勘测，旨在探究障壁岛框架的地质控制机制与长期沉积物输运过程。本报告作为存档文件，收录了未处理的数字啁啾型子底剖面数据、测线图、导航文件、地理信息系统（Geographic Information System，GIS）信息以及正式的联邦地理数据委员会（Federal Geographic Data Committee，FGDC）元数据。本次勘测获取的地震剖面数字图像亦已提供。存档的轨迹数据采用标准勘探地球物理学家协会（Society of Exploration Geophysicists，SEG）制定的SEG Y修订版0格式（Barry等，1975），可通过商业或开源软件（如地震Unix（Seismic Unix，SU））进行下载与处理。此外，还附带了示例SU处理脚本，以及用于查看SEG Y文件的美国地质调查局软件（Zihlman，1992）。
