Sample sequence distribution. The percentage of clean reads, as supplied by BGI, was between 98.73 and 99.67Â % of total read number. On average 89.25Â % of all clean reads were mapped to the genome. The number of sequences with a length between 25 and 32 bases was on average 3x higher in ovary and testis than in somatic tissues. In contrast to this, the proportion of sequences mapping to known miRNAs from mirBase or non-coding RNA annotated as miRNA from the ncrna dataset from Ensembl for Xiphophorus (Xiphophorus_maculatus.Xipmac4.4.2.ncrna.fa) was significantly higher in somatic cells than in germline cells. In oxidized samples a clear reduction of RNAs other than piRNAs could be observed. (XLSX 14Â kb)
