Organotropism during cancer metastasis occurs frequently and the mechanism remains poorly understood. Organ-specific metastatic derivatives of renal cancer were generated by repeated intracardiac inoculation and metastases clone selection/expansion, using a luciferase-labeled murine renal cancer cell line Renca. After that, genome-wide transcriptional profiling was performed to identify molecules associated with different metastatic phenotypes.
