TEACHING CAPACITY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF COGNITIVE SCAFFOLDS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

ABSTRACT The Competencies Model in Mexico has not been satisfactory, nor has the State been able to document or evaluate the role of teachers, which in the end allows it to define the training mechanisms necessary for teachers to develop a teaching-learning process in a well-founded and effective manner in accordance with this new model. The objective of our research was to identify, through moderate observation and a semi-structured interview, the use and implementation of a cognitive scaffolding in six teachers and 180 students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade of a public primary school. As a result, the teachers showed basic knowledge about support strategies that favor learning (scaffolding). However, we discussed their lack of knowledge in passing it on to their students and the extent to which this affects the process of meaning.
