Reference Land Cover Change in Mbam Djerem 2000-2015 (vector) - version 1, January 2018

This metadata refers to the Land Cover Change vector data generated over Mbam Djerem (Africa) for 2000-2015 in the framework of the Copernicus Global Land Hot Spot Mapping (C-GL-HSM) contract under the coordination of JRC.
This area of interest is either mapped with the generic 8 classes dichotomus legend (CAF_16_lcc_a).

The mapped area of interest (AOI) represents a Key Landscape for Conservation area (KLC). The KLC has a total size of 1million ha (10,000 km²) and is situated in central Cameroon. The Mbam Djerem National Park within the KLC has been established in the year 2000. The National Park has an official area of 429,090 ha (4290.9 km²) and lies within the north-western Congolian lowland forests and northern Congolian forest-savanna mosaic eco-region. The meteo climatic conditions are typical of the tropical area with primary two seasons, a long rainy season from March until October and a short dry season from November until February. The elevation ranges from 660 m to 984 m inside the National Park.

The park’s habitat diversity makes it the most biologically diverse protected area in Cameroon. However, pressure on the park is expected to increase dramatically, by an estimated 50% in the next 10 years due to the finalization of the Lom Pangar dam in 2017, a new bauxite mining operation, and expansion of both artisanal and commercial gold mining in the area (https://cameroon.wcs.org/).

该关注区域采用通用8类二分法图例（CAF_16_lcc_a）完成制图。
本次制图的关注区域（Area of Interest, AOI）为重点保护景观区（Key Landscape for Conservation, KLC）。该重点保护景观区总面积达100万公顷（合10000平方千米），坐落于喀麦隆中部。其境内的姆巴姆-杰雷姆国家公园于2000年正式设立，官方核定面积为429090公顷（合4290.9平方千米），地处刚果盆地西北部低地森林与北部刚果森林-稀树草原镶嵌生态区内。该区域属典型热带气候，一年分为两季：长雨季为3月至10月，短旱季为11月至次年2月。国家公园范围内海拔区间为660米至984米。
该公园生境类型丰富多样，是喀麦隆生物多样性最为丰富的保护区。但受2017年洛姆庞加尔大坝竣工、新铝土矿开采作业启动，以及该区域手工与商业金矿开采活动扩张的影响，预计未来10年内公园面临的保护压力将大幅攀升约50%（数据来源：https://cameroon.wcs.org/）。
