Regional Bicycle Facilities Inventory
收藏资源简介:
The Regional Bicycle Facilities Inventory (RBFI) dataset contains all existing bicycle lanes and paths (facilities) in the region. Planned, programmed, and under construction bicycle facilities are not included. The data was compiled by local jurisdictions using planning data, bicycle master plans, and capital improvement reports and was conflated to the One Maryland One Centerline (OMOC) dataset by MDOT SHA staff. BMC is contributing to annual updates to the bicycle facilities inventory in the OMOC linear referencing system. All bicycle facilities follow the jurisdiction street centerline with the exception of off-road shared-use paths. Shared-use paths are included in the same layer but they are not built from centerline data. The RBFI data is intended for general planning purposes only. This data is not intended for bicycle trip planning, and should not be construed as implying anything specific about a route’s current conditions or state of repair. This project was initiated in 2016 by the BRTB's (Baltimore Regional Transportation Board) Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Group (BPAG) subcommittee and was approved by BRTB members consisting of our region's mayors and county executives. The main goal of the data is to enable better transportation planning, especially a way to look at gaps in connectivity. Bicycle facilities included in this dataset are intended primarily to serve transportation purposes rather than recreation. As a result, facilities that are predominantly recreational, such as single-track mountain bike trails, short loop trails within parks, or hiking-only trails, may not be fully represented. One exception is the Patapsco Regional Greenway (PRG), a planned 40-mile shared-use trail corridor extending from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor to Sykesville in Carroll County. While some segments on state parkland are expected to be natural surface trails, the corridor is included in this dataset because it is a regional priority and supports transportation and regional connectivity objectives identified in the PRG concept plan adopted in 2017 by the BRTB. Starting in 2023, this dataset uses a new schema with more detailed facility sub-types. This was developed in partnership with our member jurisdictions in order to align this data with the schema used for bicycle facilities by MDOT SHA in the One Maryland One Centerline (OMOC) system. This change enhances our ability to coordinate between partner agencies at the state and local levels and allows the use of this data in conjunction with other OMOC attributes such as speed limit, number of lanes, and average daily traffic. See Regional Bicycle Facilities Inventory Schema Examples PDF for more details on the type and sub-type classifications.
