De novo Transcriptome Analysis and Molecular Marker Development of Pennisetum purpureum

In this study, we used Illumina high-throughput deep sequencing to characterize two agriculturally important Pennisetum purpureum materials, P. purpureum schum. âZiseâ and P. purpureum schum. âMottâ. After de novo assembly, a total of 197,466 unigenes were obtained from âZiseâ and âMottâ and 103,454 of these unigenes were successfully annotated. After consolidating the unigenes for both materials, 214,648 high-quality SNPs were identified in 40,259 unigenes and 21,213 SSRs were identified in 18,587 unigenes.
