The series consists of books of correspondence registers for Mackellar County Council. The registers list incoming correspondence dealt with by the agency, and also, where appropriate, any action taken to deal with the correspondence.Within each volume of Letter registers the details of correspondence received by the agency are arranged alphabetically by sender. The volumes marked as Letter Registers: Personal list the date, name of sender, subject of the correspondence and a file number. The volumes marked as Letter Registers: Subject, list the date of the correspondence, date received, name of sender, subject, the staff member to whom the letter was referred, and the date it was filed.The Registers of Referred Correspondence are arranged by the name (or title) of the staff member to whom the correspondence was referred, and list the date, the name of the sender, file number, date returned, and any remarks about the correspondence.Later dated registers (1973 onwards) are divided into Letter Registers (with blue covers) and General Correspondence Registers (with red covers). These are arranged alphabetically by sender, and list the date received, date of the letter, name of sender, the subject, file number, and to whom it was referred.
