Share of expenditure of the Swedish Armed Forces 2022, by type of expenditure

The largest share of the expenditure of the Swedish Armed Forces was spent on organizational and deployment matters such as education, training, and recruiting. This budget post reached more than half of the total budget in 2022. Furthermore, maintenance of materials and facilities accounted for around one third of the expenditure, while 11 percent was spent on the acquisition of new materials and facilities. Two percent was spent financing international operations, for instance the MINUSMA in Mali.
