Whole genome resequence for parent-of-origin effect in termites

Caste diffentiation in termites cannot be fully explained by either genetic or environmental factors, and it has been suggested that epigenetic inheritance is related to it. In particular, genomic imprinting can resolve the missing link regarding caste determination of termites. In this project, to identify alleles that are expressed in a parent-dependent manner, SNP data will be extracted from whole genome resequencing of both parents. Based on that SNP data, we will compare the expression levels between allele at each locus from RNA-seq data of the offsprings.
