A broad diversity survey of Rhizoctonia-like fungi associated with foliar blights on sympatric poaceae and fabaceae hosts from Brazilian agroecosystems

Leaf blight, sheath blight and web blight are major foliar diseases associated Rhizoctonia-like fungal pathogens on cowpea, rice and soybean crops in northern Brazil Amazonian agroecosystem. We tested the hypothesis that R. solani AG-1 IA was the main pathogen associated with the foliar diseases described. Our findings revealed that these foliar diseases are caused by a diversity of Rhizoctonia-like pathogens from the Ceratobasidium, Thanatephorus and Waitea species complex.
