Bird Directive Areas
This stock contains the demarcations of the Birds Directive Areas (SBZ-V) as approved by the Flemish Government on 17 October 1988, 20 September 1996, 23 June 1998, 17 July 2000 and 22 July 2005. The Birds Directive or European Directive 2009/147/EC aims to promote the conservation of all species of naturally occurring birds in the wild state in the European territory of the Member States. The most important measure is the designation of Special Protection Areas. In these areas, measures should be taken to protect bird species and their habitats. The designation or delimitation of the areas has been carried out on the site on analogue maps. Digitisation took place on the screen using mid-scale map material on a scale 1/25.000 or on 1/50.000.
