Supplementary Materials for the article Do Macroecological Regionalizations Improve Species Distribution Models? Evidence from Freshwater Mollusks of Kazakhstan

1. QGIS project This folder contains the QGIS project and shapefiles used to assign mollusk occurrence records to drainage basins, freshwater ecoregions, terrestrial ecoregions, and the random spatial grid classification (Grid12). 2. Supplementary tables Tables S1–S18 provide performance metrics of ensemble and individual species distribution models for each studied species. These tables were used to calculate summary statistics and constitute the primary dataset for the analyses presented in the manuscript. Tables S19–S20 contain the results of Kruskal–Wallis tests comparing the performance metrics of different modelling scenarios across all species. Table S20 additionally presents comparisons restricted to models based only on climatic predictors (Cl) and models combining climatic and land-cover predictors (Cl + LC). 3. Supplementary figures Figure S1 shows the Spearman correlation matrix for all environmental layers used in the modelling process. Figures S2–S19 illustrate the increase or decrease in model performance for individual species under different modelling scenarios relative to the baseline climate-only model (Cl).
