资源简介:

This dataset contains records of atmospheric rivers (ARs) detected using two algorithms developed by Wille et al. (2019). The algorithms were applied to ERA5 and MERRA-2 reanalysis data spanning 1980–March 2022. Detection is based on 3-hourly values of either integrated meridional vapor transport (vIVT, kg m⁻¹ s⁻¹) or integrated water vapor (IWV, kg m⁻²). An AR is considered to make landfall at a station when at least one continental grid cell within a predefined mask (1.5° latitude × 5.5° longitude, centered on the station) falls within the AR footprint. Landfall events outside this mask are not included in the station-based AR catalogues. The detection algorithm does not account for ARs that cross Antarctica near the South Pole., in that case, ARs listed as reaching the South Pole are those identified as crossing 80°S. A day is considered associated with an AR if the detection algorithm identifies an AR within ±1 day. This lag was introduced to account for ARs making landfall a few hours before or after 00:00 UTC or just after 23:59 UTC. For each station, one CSV file is available (e.g., {station}_ARday.csv), including dates of the AR occurrences at the station (considering ±1 day as described above). Date is YYYY-MM-DD. reference : Wille, J. D. et al. West Antarctic surface melt triggered by atmospheric rivers. Nat. Geosci. 12, 911–916 (2019).
