The fate of soil organic matter in Northern ecosystems

Overall, climate change brings not only widely studied drought, but also flood , which effect is far less studied/known. It is known that water-level (WL) increases first-order root mortality and decreases their production . As roots and microbes are crucial to form stable SOM effect of WL on their interaction should be studied. Especially fungal community related to the roots will be investigated from peatland forest sites with varying WL.
