Our objective was to determine the changes to microbial community structure during and after bio-stimulation (by urea and molasses amendment) to encourage microbial induced calcite precipitation (MICP) in an aquifer, to selectively stabilize the sediment matrix. This bio-engineered technique could be used to improve soil quality, strength, stiffness, and reduce porosity in areas prone to liquefaction and other poor soil environments.
