26 Mint Street, Godalming, Surrey. Archaeological Watching Brief (OASIS ID: heritage1-210251)

In response to a planning condition on the construction of a rear extension at 26 Mint Street, Godalming, Surrey, the Heritage Network was commissioned to undertake a programme of archaeological monitoring of the groundworks. The stratigraphy suggests that the garden, at least close to the house, has been terraced. Beneath the 1980s patio natural gravelly sand was encountered as shallow as 0.25m in depth, and the overburden was thicker uphill to the north. The footprint to the new extension had been disturbed by the construction of a patio in the 1980s and the installation of late post-medieval/ modern soakaway, inspection chamber and other service pipes. No other features or artefacts of archaeological significance were observed during the course of this work.

针对英国萨里郡戈达明市明特街26号后部扩建工程的规划许可条件，遗产网络（Heritage Network）受委托开展场地土方工程的系统性考古监测工作。地层学分析表明，该花园至少在紧邻住宅的区域已被改造为台地。1980年代修建的露台下方，天然砾质砂土的埋深仅约0.25米，且北侧上坡区域的覆盖层厚度更大。新建扩建工程的施工占地范围曾因1980年代露台的修建，以及后中世纪晚期/现代渗井、检查井与其他服务管线的铺设而遭到扰动。本次监测过程中未发现其他具有考古价值的遗迹或人工遗物。
