Observations of the emergence of Fijian cicadas in September 2017

A "nanai" campaign was run on the month of September of 2017, increasing awareness about our unique and endemic cicada, Raiateana knowlesi; a species that is known to emerge once every 8 years. This species is known from only a handful of locations within the Namosi and Navosa Province. A competition was developed through the NatureFiji-MareqetiViti (NFMV) campaign and website to help collect any additional information of emergence from the public with the hopes that we could confirm original distributional information as well as include any possible new credible information of their distribution/emergence. The competition required that certain information was recorded and that a picture was uploaded to help confirm the species and presence.

在2017年九月，一场名为“nanai”的宣传活动得以开展，旨在提升公众对我们独特且特有的一种蝉类——Raiateana knowlesi（赖亚特纳蝉）的认识。该物种每八年才出现一次。Raiateana knowlesi物种仅分布在纳莫西（Namosi）和纳沃萨（Navosa）省的少数几个地点。借助自然斐济-马雷基蒂维蒂（NatureFiji-MareqetiViti，简称NFMV）宣传活动及其网站，举办了一场竞赛，旨在鼓励公众提供关于该物种出现的任何额外信息，以期验证其原始分布信息，并纳入任何可能的、可信的分布/出现新信息。竞赛要求记录特定信息并上传图片，以辅助确认物种及其存在。
