The invention relates to a safety brake device (30) for braking a saw blade (22) of a hand-held circular saw (10)， with a first brake element (32)， the first brake element (32) being arranged in a rotationally fixed manner on a machining shaft (20) of a hand-held circular saw (10) and with a second brake element (34)， the second brake element (34) being arranged in a rotationally fixed manner on a housing (12) of the portable circular saw (10). It is proposed that an actuator element (60) trigger the safety brake device (30) as soon as an approach to human skin or contact of the saw blade (22) with human skin is detected.
