Transcriptomic response of Antarctic marine invertebrate (Spinoserolis beddardi) to heat stress

We examined the transcriptomic response of the Antarctic isopod Spinoserolis beddardi under acute thermal stress to evaluate how short-term warming alters gene expression in a cold-adapted benthic species. Individuals were exposed for one week to either their ambient temperature, a moderate warming treatment, or an extreme warming treatment. We compared transcriptome profiles across these three temperature conditions to identify molecular pathways associated with thermal sensitivity, stress responses, and the limits of heat tolerance in this polar invertebrate.
