Forecast Back Trajectories

Forecast back-trajectories are computed using the Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HySPLIT) model from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Air Research Laboratory forced with Antarctic Mesoscale Prediction System (AMPS) model data. A forecast back trajectory is initialized 3 days into the AMPS forecast at McMurdo Station and other select Antarctic Automatic Weather Station locations around the continent and computed backwards through the zero forecast hour.
