Genome Sequence of Staphylococcus aureus Cystic Fibrosis Isolates. Staphylococcus aureus

Staphylococcus aureus is often an early colonizer of Cystic fibrosis (CF) patients that is later replaced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Co-infection with both bacteria is correlated with poor prognosis and decreases the lifespan of the patient. We have sequenced clinical isolates of S. aureus from patients co-infected with both pathogens. Isolates were obtained from the CF Biospecimen Registry (CFBR) at Emory University + Children's Center for Cystic Fibrosis and Airways Disease Research.
