Near-surface winds and smoke plume profiles -- field measurements during the Eglin Air Force Base 2023 Burn Campaign

A network of a dozen sonic anemometers measured the near-surface winds and temperatures surrounding the burn zone. Three SODARs (Sonic Detection and Ranging) profiled the plume and inflow region. One LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) measured the smoke particulate content, wind velocities, and mixing heights of the plume. Five cameras recorded the plume development.This dataset is part of the Wildland Fire Science Initiative (WFSI) research burn campaign held at Eglin Air Force Base from March 11, 2023 to March 19, 2023. In addition, pre- and post-fire data collection occurred before and after these dates.
