Gene database for Bacillus subtilis 168

Information on gene name and gene sequence are particularly useful for molecular cloning, genome editing and phylogenetic analysis. Hence, a database of gene name and gene sequence of a particular microbial species would be a very useful tool for researchers in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology and molecular phylogeny. In this contribution, an in-house MATLAB software was used to parse annotated genome information of <i>Bacillus subtilis </i>168 from Genbank. Gene names and gene sequence retrieved were catalogued into a database that was output into an Excel file for ease of access and retrieval. Overall, the database of gene names and gene sequence of <i>B. subtilis</i> 168 should serve as a useful resource in many areas of fundamental and applied microbiology.<br>
