Recruitment and retaining of care workers with different ethnic/national backgrounds, 2009

This study was carried out as a questionnaire survey by SFI (The Danish National Centre for Social Research). The purpose of the study was to examine the differences in working procedures and attitudes towards elder care among Danish home carers and home carers of non-Danish ethnic background. The aim of the study is to gain knowledge which can ensure the quality of the service, improve the recruitment and retention of employees and prevent lack of cooperation and conflicts with managers. Furthermore the study is expected to contribute to knowledge of how to gain a better understanding of the cooperation between senior citizens, relatives and employees of non-Danish ethnic background.
