Antibiotic use on small- and medium-sized pig farms - farmers’ knowledge and practices in North-eastern Thailand

The data was collected in October to December 2018 through structured interviews with farmers on small- and medium-sized pig farms in Khon Kaen province in northeastern Thailand. Small farms were categorized as farms keeping less than 50 sows while medium farms kept between 100 to 500 sows. The questionnaire contained both multiple-choice and open-ended questions. Answers were recorded using the open-source smartphone platform Open Data Kit (ODK) and were further exported to Microsoft Excel. In total, 164 pig farmers were interviewed. Each farmer was informed about the purpose of the study and that their answers would be anonymous. All farmers gave their consent to participate in the study before the interview. The main purpose was to collect data on antibiotic usage on pig farms of different level of intensification (i.e. small and medium) and on farmers’ knowledge regarding antibiotic use and resistance. Data collected by interviews entered in ODK (Open Data Kit) and retrieved in Microsoft Excel.

本数据集采集于2018年10月至12月，通过对泰国东北部坤敬府（Khon Kaen）境内中小型养猪场的养殖户开展结构化访谈完成。其中，小型猪场定义为存栏母猪不足50头的养殖场，中型猪场则为存栏母猪100至500头的养殖场。本次访谈所用问卷涵盖选择题与开放式问题两种题型。访谈数据通过开源智能手机平台Open Data Kit（ODK）进行记录，后续导出至Microsoft Excel软件。本次访谈共完成164名养猪户的受访工作。所有受访养猪户均已获悉本研究的研究目的，且其作答将被匿名处理；所有受访户均在访谈开始前签署了研究参与知情同意书。本研究的核心目标为：采集不同集约化程度（即小型与中型）养猪场的抗生素使用数据，以及养殖户对抗生素使用与耐药性的相关认知情况。本次访谈采集的所有数据均录入至Open Data Kit（ODK）平台，后导出至Microsoft Excel软件。
