资源简介:
Basemaps for "provinces" of colonial Spanish America in chose years. There is no single definition of what constituted a "province", any effort can be contested. The guidelines for this construction are: - Every entity headed by a "gobernador" is considered a province. - Autonomous fiefdoms are considered provinces. - The core areas where viceroys and captain-generals were also immediate governors are considered provinces. - Intendencies are considered provinces, excluding the areas of "subordinated provinces". - Alcaldías mayores and corregimientos are NOT considered provinces - they appear in the set "jurisdictions". Only a few exceptions have been made to this rule in order to create meaningful regional geographies: The corregimientos of Tunja and Mariquita in the Nuevo Reino de Granada and the corregimiento de Cuyo in Chile (later Río de la Plata) are also defined as provinces in their own right.
