Supplementary file - Article: <b>A Mathematical Model Predicts Puberty Stages from Peak Height Velocity (PHV)</b>

Owing to its easy practical applicability, the analysis of somatic maturation stages based on anthropometric measurements to determine peak height velocity (PHV) has become popular. It is known that anthropometric measurements undergo significant changes during puberty. Thus, it is likely that we will be able to discriminate between the stages of puberty (prepubertal, pubertal, and post-pubertal) using the PHV. We examined the possibility of determining the stages of puberty from the peak height velocity (PHV). We clinically analyzed puberty in 203 boys (Age=12.6±2.6), divided into two groups (development [n=121] &amp; cross-validation [n=82]), and then determined PHV through anthropometry. Utilizing discriminant analysis, the researchers discovered that PHV, combined with sitting height, could discriminate between puberty stages by 87% in the development group. Consequently, a mathematical model was proposed.
