Nutrient Transformation in NH Wetlands (Derived from NWI Plus)

This dataset identifies wetlands across New Hampshire with modeled capacity to perform nutrient transformation, a critical function that supports water quality by intercepting, retaining, and processing nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. Derived from the National Wetlands Inventory Plus (NWI Plus), the dataset provides landscape-scale estimates of wetland function to support water resource protection, conservation planning, and nonpoint source pollution mitigation. Functional scores were generated based on wetland type, landscape position, hydroperiod, and connectivity, offering a valuable tool for planners, regulators, and scientists working to protect and restore ecological functions in the state’s wetland systems.
