We propose to invest 2.2Ms of XMM time to obtain the first X-raycharacterization of a sample of 15 hyper-luminous quasars at z=2-4. The maingoals are i) to detect the UFO features and derive the wind detection rate in alarge sample at these luminosities/redshift ii) to investigate their launchingmechanism by exploring correlations between wind and accretion properties in aluminosity/accretion range unexplored so far iii) to characterize through windmodels the physical properties of the nuclear winds derive their energetics andcompare them with the large-scale outflows iv) to explore the connectionbetween the presence of nuclear winds and other X-ray properties. This programwill provide the community with the legacy sample for the study of SMBH accretion and ejection beyond z=2. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
