ALLOMETRIC GROWTH IN BRAZILIAN NATURALIZED PIGS

Abstract The allometric growth of male and female naturalized pig breeds (Nilo, Piau, Moura, and Monteiro) was evaluated regarding hip height, snout length, and head length using the allometric equation. Body measurements generally show later growth in relation to the snout length and earlier growth in relation to the head length and hip height. When comparing breeds of pigs, female Moura animals showed later growth of the characteristics linked to muscle (thoracic circumference, body length, and longitudinal diameter) than of head length. Nilo females showed characteristics such as shoulder length, rump length and interschiadic distance earlier than snout length. There were differences between the breed and gender in terms of development times for the different parts of the body, showing that breeding systems and use of these animals have to be specific for each breed.摘要：本研究借助异速生长方程，针对臀高、吻长及头长三项指标，对尼罗（Nilo）、皮奥（Piau）、穆拉（Moura）与蒙特罗（Monteiro）四个归化猪品种的公母猪异速生长规律进行了评估。研究结果显示，多数体尺指标的生长进程相较于吻长均呈现滞后性，而相较于头长与臀高则呈现超前性。品种间对比表明，穆拉母猪的肌肉相关指标（胸围、体长及体纵径）的生长相较于头长仍滞后；尼罗母猪的肩长、臀长及坐骨间距等指标的生长则早于吻长。不同品种与性别的猪只，其身体各部位的发育时序存在显著差异，这提示针对这些猪品种的繁育体系与产业利用模式需因品种制宜。
