Cisplatin is a broad-spectrum anti-cancer drugs used in diverse types of cancer, however, muscle wasting is one of the most common side effects of cisplatin chemotherapy. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of an ethanol extract of the root of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. (Radix Paeoniae, RP) on cisplatin-induced muscle wasting along with its molecular mechanism. C57BL/6 mice (4 weeks old, female) were used to induce muscle wasting by intraperitoneal injection of 3mg/kg cisplatin without or with oral admininstration of 100 mg/kg RP. Gastrocnemius muscle tissues were collected from the untreated group (designiated as Normal) and cisplatin-treated group (designated as Cisplatin), and cisplatin and RP-treated group (designiated as RP). RNAs extracted from the gastrocnemius muscle tissues were analyzed via RNAseq
