Moist fermented feed has many advantages over pelleted feed, such as good palatability, easier absorption, and the provision of probiotics. Our study provided a new way of using fermented feed instead of pellet feed. We found that the method of equal-weight substitution can lead to less dry matter input in the moist fermented feed group than in the control group, and the growth, liver and intestinal health, as well as the intestinal microbiota of common carp can be improved by substitution in a suitable ratio. This suggested that our study could have a positive impact on the growth and health of carp with a small saving of feed resources.
