HOWEVER,THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE STATISTICAL AND SYSTEMATIC ERROR IN A SINGLE BIN IS NOT LARGE,THE FIRST COMING MAINLY FROM EVENT COUNTING AND THE SECOND MAINLY FROM BACKGROUND ESTIMATION (SEE MARTIN72T). ON ADVICE OF THRESHER74 WE HAVE COMBINED THE STATISTICAL AND SYSTEMATIC ERRORS FOR EACH BIN IN QUADRATURE,AND HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO TAKE CORRELATIONS BETWEEN DIFFERENT BINS INTO ACCOUNT. /// MARTIN74 [J. DONE AT NIMROD WITH LMN TARGET,SCINTILLATION COUNTER HODOSCOPES,AND CHERENKOV COUNTERS TO RESOLVE THE REGION OF KINEMATIC AMBIGUITY AND REDUCE BACKGROUND. THE NE IS RECORDED AS +/-6 PCT OVERALL AND +/-2 PCT RESIDUAL AT EACH MOMENTUM. THIS IS AN OVERSIMPLIFICATION AS DATA WERE TAKEN SIMULTANEOUSLY AT PAIRS OF MOMENTA SEPARATED BY ABOUT 1.9 PCT. THE RESIDUAL NE OF SUCH A PAIR IS 2 PCT,BUT THE NORMALIZATIONS FOR THE TWO MEMBERS OF THE PAIR ARE 100 PCT CORRELATED. THE MARTIN75 DATA ARE NOT THE SAME AS THE SLEEMAN74 DATA. /// COMMENTS ON MODIFICATIONS TO LOVELACE71 COMPILATION BY KELLY -- LOVELACE71 VERSION COMES FROM TWO PRELIMINARY VERSIONS OF THE DATA EARLIER THAN MARTIN72 (LOVELACE71IDS=BROWN70 AND SLEEMA71). MANY MAJOR DIFFERENCES. RUTHERFORD, POLARIZED TARGET.
