Massively parallel 454 sequencing of hypervariable regions in rRNA genes was used to profile microbial communities from 15 activated sludge samples of 14 wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) from 4 countries. Totally, 355641 effective reads were generated from these 15 samples. These reads were assigned into different taxonomies by using RDP classifier. Besides, Cluster analysis, PCA, colinearity analysis was also used to assess the beta-diversity among all these sludge samples.
