Vegetation and Soil Moisture in the Grassland and Woodlot Habitats

This study was conducted in order to determine the relationship between habitat, soil moisture, and vegetation abundance in the Saywell Woodlot and Stong Pond Grassland. Quadrats were placed in randomly selected areas throughout each habitat and the estimated percentage of grass, other vegetation, and total coverage was recorded. Soil samples were taken from each quadrat location and squeezed to estimate moisture percentage based on guidelines set by the USDA. This study was conducted on two days - October 19th and 26th.

本研究旨在探究塞维尔林地（Saywell Woodlot）与斯唐池塘草原（Stong Pond Grassland）中，生境、土壤湿度与植被丰度三者间的关联。研究人员在两类生境的全域随机选取区域布设样方(quadrat)，并记录草本植物、其余植被及总覆盖度的估算占比。从每个样方点位采集土壤样本后，依据美国农业部（USDA）制定的规范，通过挤压样本估算土壤湿度百分比。本研究于10月19日及26日两日开展。
