Integrating PSMA PET and Artificial Intelligence for Optimising Patient Selection and Post-Treatment Surveillance in Prostate Focal Therapy

This project explored new ways to make focal therapy (FT)—a targeted treatment for prostate cancer—safer and more effective. We studied advanced imaging with PSMA PET scans, MRI, and artificial intelligence (AI). We found that many men are not suitable for FT because cancer is often present in both sides of the prostate. PSMA PET scans improved accuracy by detecting hidden cancer, while our AI model showed strong potential in selecting the right patients using routine clinical data. We also discovered a new imaging pitfall after treatment. Overall, these tools may help personalise care and improve outcomes for men with prostate cancer.
