This dataset comprises observational data from simple runoff plots in the Xindiangou Watershed, the first sub-region of the loess hilly-gully region, during 1956–1963. Observations were conducted on event precipitation, runoff volume, and sediment yield of runoff plots under different soil and water conservation measures, to compare the water and sediment reduction benefits of various measures. Detailed information of the runoff plots is provided in the *Basic Information Table of Simple Runoff Plots*. The main monitoring indicators include: "Plot ID", month, day, "Precipitation (mm)", "Runoff Volume (m³/km²)", "Runoff Coefficient", etc.
