Transcriptomic response of Triatoma infestans to deltamethrin

In the Southern Cone, Triatoma infestans is the primary vector of the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas disease. The control of triatomine populations is crucial for reducing vectorial transmission. The existence of pyrethroid resistant populations of T. infestans which have been detected in regions from Argentina and Bolivia is alarming. A focus located in Guemes Department (Chaco Province, Argentina) in the Gran Chaco ecoregion, is of particular relevance. We used RNA-Seq to analyze the global transcriptomic response of a T. infestans population from Colonia Castelli (Guemes Department) after 4 hours of deltamethrin treatment, with the aim of studying the transcriptomic response to an insecticide intoxication in this species.
