Individual-level morphometric dataset and reproducibility materials for North Sulawesi local goats

This repository contains the individual-level morphometric dataset and reproducibility materials supporting the study “Phenotypic diversity of North Sulawesi local goats with preliminary DNA barcoding evidence.” The dataset comprises 60 local goats sampled from six locations in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, with 10 animals sampled from each location. Twenty-six morphometric traits were recorded together with sex, body mass, age records, and qualitative phenotypic observations. Twenty-four morphometric traits with complete observations were used for standardized principal component analysis (PCA). The first three principal components explained 72.27% of the standardized variance (PC1 = 60.43%, PC2 = 6.95%, PC3 = 4.88%). Ward hierarchical clustering using Euclidean distance was applied to the first three PC scores, with a linkage cut-off of 12, producing three exploratory morphometric clusters containing 24, 28, and 8 animals. The mean silhouette width was 0.443. Age and sex were recorded but were not controlled, balanced, or included as covariates in the PCA or clustering procedure. The resulting clusters are therefore intended as exploratory morphometric groupings within the sampled goats rather than evidence of genetically distinct populations. The repository also contains the R analysis script, PCA outputs, cluster assignments, statistical summaries, the original morphometric workbook, raw Sanger chromatogram files, BLAST reports, and GenBank accession information for the four successfully sequenced COI samples. The four COI sequences are publicly available in GenBank under accession numbers PZ986163–PZ986166.
