Category EL9 easements relate to coastal crossing easements designed to ensure pedestrian crossing along the coast and to provide them with free access to the coastline. In addition to a right of passage for pedestrians, it prohibits the owners of the encumbered land and their dependants from making changes to the state of the premises which may, even temporarily, impede the free passage of pedestrians, unless authorised in advance by the prefect, for a maximum period of six months. The easement also establishes a right of way for the competent administration to establish the necessary signage to specify the location of the easement and to carry out the work necessary to ensure the free passage and safety of pedestrians, subject to fifteen days’ notice except in cases of emergency.
